Office Policies
Information to make your visit more productive
We accept most insurances and also cash or credit cards. Any co-pays need to paid at the time of your visit, or a $7.50 billing fee will be added.
Prescription refills are done by fax from your pharmacy. You call your pharmacy and they will fax us the refill request. Prescription refills will be limited by the length of time appropriate for your next visit. For example, diabetic or depression/anxiety medications need an office visit for monitoring at least every 3 months. Blood pressure and cholesterol treatment needs to be monitored with an office visit at least every 6 months. All other medications require an office visit or complete physical at least every year. Dr. Stuart rarely prescribes narcotics, but if needed an appointment is required for each prescription and these will not be refillable. Laboratory tests are required for persons with diabetes or cholesterol problems every 3 to 6 months. These policies are for your safety and part of what defines top quality care.
You will need to see Dr. Stuart in the office before you can be referred to a specialist, and please contact Christy for any referral requests at least one week before the desired specialist appointment. Christy will also assist you with any billing issues.
Monique will make every attempt to answer all phone messages by the end of each day, as well as checking about all refills requested. She will call you with your lab or x-ray results within 10-14 days. If you haven't heard about your report by that time, please call us. Monique cannot leave any detailed messages with answering machines or others, due to the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA). Law prohibits us from releasing information to others.
